Waldo Carl Weishuhn, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 89 in Columbus, TX. Born on January 13, 1936, in Post Oak Point, TX, Waldo lived a life marked by love, service, and the simple joys of country living. Waldo was the beloved husband of Leontina (Shimek) Weishuhn for almost 66 years. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and

W ld love. His legacy continues through his devoted children, Sheryl Michalsky (Eugene), Dee Ruether (Mark), Kathy Bertsch (Donald), Lois Mings (Daniel), and son, Darrell Weishuhn. Waldo was a cherished grandfather to Bridget Wilkins (Joe), Cris Michalsky (Kate), Matthew Weishuhn (Jennifer), Brian Mings (Annie), Megan Williams (Bradley), Jordan Weishuhn (Jill), Colton Mings (Amanda), Kasey Hebler (Cody), Reese Weishuhn (Andrea), Kristy Christiansen (Hesston), and Mason Ruether. His great-grandchildren, Zoe, Owen, Olivia, Sam, Eva, Shelby, Gabby, Layne, Jace, Jolie, Delilah, Tallahassee, Laramie, Cayson, Kambry, Jaden, Mitchel, Hayden, and Tucker.

Waldo was a man of many talents and interests. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before embarking on a career as a plumber and an electrician. Later he worked as an equipment operator for Fayette County Pct. 2, from which he retired. He was known for his work ethic and commitment. He was an active member of the Woodmen of the World and Ellinger Sons of Hermann. Known for his kind nature, creativity, and handy skills, Waldo could often be found outdoors, indulging in his love for hunting and fishing at the river and creek. He had a green thumb and took great pride in his garden. Waldo was also an avid player of dominoes, teasing his family 'it will cost you to learn.' His love for polka and waltzes was evident in his joy of dancing, which he shared with friends and family.

Waldo was a jack of all trades, devoting time to raising cattle, tackling various fixer-upper projects, and always being available to offer his expertise to those in need. Yet, his greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sharing stories and creating memories that will be treasured forever.

He is survived by his loving sister, Marie Von Minden; brothers, Emmanuel Weishuhn (Jo Ann) and Leslie Weishuhn (Carol); sisters-in-law, Lucille Weishuhn and Lydia Shimcik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Waldo was preceded in death by his parents, Florenz B. and Frieda; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Otillia Shimek; brothers and sisters-in-law, Florenz C. and Jackie Weishuhn, Roy and Maynette Weishuhn; and brother-in-law, Edgar Von Minden, along with numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews. Waldo's life was a testament to the power of kindness, hard work, and dedication to family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Fu- neral Home & Crematory, 109 E. State Hwy 71, in Ellinger, Texas. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to receive friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Crematory in Ellinger. Burial will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fayetteville Fire Department or to Amedisys Hospice.
