DOROTHY FRANCES (SMIDOVEC) ORSAK

Dorothy Frances (Smidovec) Orsak, 76, of Fayetteville, Texas, a special lady whose warmth and generosity brightened every day, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023.

Dorothy was born in Columbus, Texas on September 20, 1946, the daughter of Jerry Rudolph Smidovec and Amalie (Zapalac) Smidovec. She married Dennis Orsak on June 13, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger, TX.

She dedicated her working career to the postal service, starting as a mail carrier at the Katy Post Office. She eventually worked her way up to Postmaster at the Plum Post Office, where she spent the

last 16 years of her 34 year career.

Dorothy was an inspiration and bright light to her family and friends. She was a special mom, loving Nana and Big Sis too. She was active in the community and church. Dorothy was a member of the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce and Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, St. Mary’s Church and Altar Society, along with the National Association of Postmasters. At times, she volunteered at Saint Mark’s Hospital in La Grange.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis David Orsak; daughter, Donna Linderman and husband, Ron, of Waco, TX; son, Bryan Orsak and wife, Alicia, of Muldoon, TX; sister, Elsie Sedlar of La Grange, TX; brother, Larry Smidovec and wife, Diane, of Garwood, TX; brother, Jerry Smidovec, Jr. and wife, Dory, of Garwood, TX; brother, Michael Smidovec of Garwood, TX; sister, Bernice Konvicka of Houston, TX; sister, Betty Bowans of Katy, TX; sister, Margie Ramos and husband, Ross, of Katy, TX; sister, Shery Brown and husband, Tony, of Garwood, TX; brother, Michael Smidovec and wife, Sue, of Garwood, TX; sister, Geraldine Orsak and husband, Ignac, of Fayetteville, TX; her beloved grandchildren: Nicolas Fowler, Nolan Fowler and fiancee, Audrey, and Justin Fowler; blended family, Tyler Linderman and wife, Windy; Kelsea Horning and husband, Marcus; and Kristen Linderman; Efren Pena and numerous nieces and nephews; and special companion, her dog, “Little Jack”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Johnnie Konvicka and Easy Sedlar.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00p.m. and 5:00 -7:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 815 St. Mary’s Church Road, Ellinger, TX. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 205 E. Bell St., Fayetteville, TX, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, 301 S. Thompson St., Fayetteville, TX.
