COLUMBUS – St John's Episcopal Church in Columbus invited all to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14 in the parking lot of Brookshire Bros. in Columbus. After a regular Ash Wednesday service at noon inside the church on Travis Street, the church took the ashes to the streets.

Recently, the Fayette County Emergency Medical Services, in conjunction with the Flatonia Police Department, sponsored a Tactical Emergency Casualty Care-Law Enforcement Offi - cer (TECC-LEO) Course. This course focuses on responders working to treat the injured during an active major event while the event is still ongoing. There are courses specifical - ly designed for EMS and re - sponders with medical training, but this course is designed for law enforcement to provide the knowledge and skills they need to provide immediate lifesaving care during an active threat event. BELLVILLE – Recently, the Extension Education Association of Austin County hosted its annual 2024 Cultural Arts Contest. The event was coordinated by the Cultural Arts Committee, which was co-chaired by Barney Zimmerman of Bleiblerville EEA and Gaye Farr of West End EEA. Committee members in- clude – Malinda Schramm, Clau dia Cieslewicz and Joan Buenger. The Cultural Arts Contest allows members to exhibit knowledge and skills that express individualism and creativity.
