Brahmanettes improves to .500 record in second year of Dewitz era

Bellville girl’s basketball made progress in the ’24 season as they posted a near .500 overall record for the year. Second-year head coach Mike Dewitz knows basketball like the back of his hand with plenty of experience, as basketball runs in his family with his dad being selected 19th overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 1958 NBA Draft. Dewitz has also worked plenty of camps at the high school and college level.

FLATONIA – The Flatonia High School boy’s basketball team defended home court Feb. 6 at Bulldogs Gym by beating Schulenburg High School with a final score of 54-49. Both teams traded punches in a game that is usually a barn burner like it was, coming down to the last few minutes of the game where Flatonia was able to make important shots when needed. “Schulenburg’s a good team,” said Flatonia head boy’s basketball coach Chris Sodek.

LA GRANGE – The La Grange High School girl’s soccer team picked up a 1-0 win vs Rockdale High School February 9 at Leopards Stadium. It was an evenly matched game, but it was a big goal from the Lady Leopards in the second half that made the difference. “We have been focusing on really trying to connect passes and play the passing game,” said La Grange head girl’s soccer coach Lauren Hubbert.
