Hundreds of new laws go into effect

A total of 774 new laws went into effect on Sept. 1, affecting Texans in many areas of their lives, the Austin American- Statesman reported. The new laws concern property taxes, registration fees and voting access, among other issues. Several have drawn court challenges from opponents.

KENNEY – The Austin County 4-H hosted their annual awards banquet on Aug. 13 with over 200 in attendance. This year’s banquet was hosted by Stars & Stripes and Bellville 4-H Clubs at Kenney Agricultural Society Hall in Kenney and the meal was catered by Big Boys Catering.

Lady Cardinals volleyball is once again looking like a state championship team with pieces all across the board. 2024 University of Texas at San Antonio volleyball commit Ally Tribe has been towards the top of the team kill list, which is normal for the 6’2” senior. Arranging the kills is senior setter Sage Thomas, who has the ability to tally 40-50 assists a game as she put up 45 in a recent win vs Victoria West.
