The tri-county area had a good portion of athletes who made the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite Team. This team is made up of athletes picked by members of the THSCA and the player has to meet the THSCA award criteria in order to be nominated. It recognizes student- athletes across Texas for their superior achievement in their sport.

The Flatonia High School baseball team defeated their recent opponent Bloomington in a two game series by scores of 19-0 and 18-0 and have an overall record of 11-3 with a 6-1 record in District 29-2A. Big hitters in this series were Keyshaun Green, Beck Zimmerman, Cale Janecka, and Dayton Cliffe. Cliffe led the team with six RBI’s in the first game, then Janecka was the head honcho in the second game with four RBI’s.

The Cardinals baseball team has continued their victorius ways as they’ve won eight of their last nine games, capturing seven in a row. Three of the wins have been shutouts and one of the wins came against Rice Consolidat- ed by a final score of 21-1.
