Colorado County Fair Association Shrimp Boil never tasted so good
COLUMBUS–What is better than a bucket full of fresh-cooked shrimp? The money one pays for the delectable and abundant meal will fund scholarships for future Colorado County graduates. It almost couldn’t get much better than that. The Colorado County Fair Board hosted the event on April 27 at the fairgrounds in Columbus.

Local elections are coming up: why your vote matters
As voters, it is crucial to understand the importance of local elections – from city council, school trustees, mayors, and school boards – local elections deserve just as much attention and consideration as the presidential race and other federally elected positions. It is our city council members who make decisions about where the money goes and our school boards who allocate more funding to our schools. On average, local elections tend to have a lower turnout when, in fact, some of them may be even more important to our everyday lives.

COLUMBUS – The John Everett Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution of Columbus has selected its scholarship winners for 2024. Each year, the chapter gives $600 scholarships to three outstanding Colorado County students. This year the winners are: Talyr Tipton of Columbus High School, Ariana Palacios of Rice High School, and Amy Christen of Weimar High School.
