Students Andie Eckermann, Emily Chen, Evelin Cornejo, Heyzel Espinoza, Ruth Garcia, Lydia Huebner, Robert Smith, Koda Barnett, Zander Felter, Kaleb Jacobs, Seth Trahan, Leah Kutch and Mia Surovik make the cut. Lea Kutch and Mia Surovik earned a gold medal for a first di vision rating at the state level.

The Austin County Sheriff’s Office welcomes Makaylah Scott as a Telecommunicator. Makaylah is a 2019 graduate of Sealy High School and a student at Sam Houston State University, graduating with a Communications degree in December. Sheriff Brandes is honored to have Scott, a lifetime citizen of Austin County, working with them.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick claimed last week that Gov. Greg Abbott is sabotaging the Senate’s work because of their ongoing feud over which approach to property tax reform is best, The Dallas Morning News reported. Abbott vetoed three bills by Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, who has been Patrick’s point senator on increasing homestead exemptions in order to provide tax cuts.

BELLVILLE – Isaac Carrizales, 17, was arrested on June 14 in Bellville by the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force. Carrizales was wanted for murder, evading arrest, unlawful carrying of a weapon and organized criminal activity.

The FBI is warning the public of malicious actors creating synthetic content commonly referred to as “deep fakes” by manipulating benign photographs or videos to target victims. Technology advancements are continuously improving the quality, customizability, and accessibility of ar- tificial intelligence (AI)-enabled content creation. The FBI continues to receive reports from victims, including minor children and non-consenting adults, whose photos or videos were altered into explicit content. The photos or videos are then publicly circulated on social media or pornographic websites for the purpose of harassing victims or sextortion schemes.

Celebrations! by Bistro 108 Events and Catering provided a beautiful spread of light bites for the reception where awarded students and their families were able to meet the FCF Board, scholarship donors, and fund representatives who made their scholarships possible.

BELLVILLE – The Home-Grown Vegetable Contest was held on June 10 at Linseisen’s Feed & Supply in Bellville, the host of the event. Along with the contest, there was an educational program on Different Types of Fertilizers & When to Fertilize What, presented by Shelby Dovzak from Nelson’s Plant Food. Nelson’s Plant Food provided a wonderful speaker. The Austin County Horticulture Committee donated the gift certificates for the first, sec ond and third place Best of Show.
