Lone Star Healthy Streams workshop set
INDUSTRY – A Lone Star Healthy Streams workshop will be held on Aug. 30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 15994 Hwy 159 W, Industry, to focus on watershed health and best management practices for grazing livestock, backyard poultry, and feral hogs. This event is open to the general public and will focus on the Mill Creek Watershed, including Washington and Austin Counties. The conference is offered jointly by the Mill Creek Watershed Partnership, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute, and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB).

Hay and forage producers encouraged to submit samples for analysis
All beef cattle and hay producers are encouraged to turn in a sample of their hay for analysis at this year’s Austin County Hay Show scheduled for Oct. 4. Hay sample collection boxes and forms will be available at the following drop-off locations: Bellville Farm & Ranch, Linseisen’s Feed & Supply Inc., and Austin County Extension Office, all in Bellville; Steinhauser’s in Sealy; Bernardo Farm & Ranch in Cat Spring; 4M Feed & Ranch in New Ulm; and Lindemann Store in Industry.

LCRA responds to drought conditions
LCRA is in Stage 1 of its drought response. Under Stage 1 conditions, LCRA allows landscape watering up to twice a week for domestic use customers that have a contract with LCRA to draw water directly from the Highland Lakes. LCRA requests its customers reduce water use by 10% and that its firm water customers, which primarily are cities, utilities and industries, implement mandatory water use restrictions.
