BELLVILLE – Get into the Christmas spirit by going to Bellville’s Small Town Christmas on Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2, in Bellville’s little, big town.

ELLINGER – The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall doors open at 10:30 a.m. for the third annual Ellinger Holiday Music Show on Sunday, Dec. 3. It will feature The Dujka Brothers, Friends of D’Vine Testament, and Zach Novak. Come enjoy gospel, country, holiday, polka and waltz music from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission tickets are $5.

SCHULENBURG - Schulenburg police stopped a vehicle on a traffic stop on Nov. 22 at abpproximately 11:40 a.m. in the 700 block of North Kessler Ave. The driver pulled his vehicle into the Pilot parking lot and ran into the store before being taken into custody by offi - cers.

EAGLE LAKE – Eagle Lake resident and artist Bobbe Nolan has been selected by the Eagle Lake Chamber of Commerce as the parade marshal for the upcoming Christmas Parade of Lights in Eagle Lake on Dec. 9.

New Voter Registration Cer- tificates will be mailed out to all currently registered voters by Dec. 6.

SEALY – If the biggest lit Christmas Parade with over 65 floats, hot cocoa, and more oohs and aahs than one can count, then the Sealy Fantasy of Lights Parade is where you will want to be on Saturday, Dec. 2, in downtown Sealy.

COLUMBUS – The ladies are set to take to the streets during the 2023 Ladies Night Out on Thursday, Dec. 7 in Columbus.

CCH dedicates new and expanded facilities with eye to the future

COLUMBUS - Meet Syd nie Gaston, the epitome of a true heroine, who comes to life in a way that will captivate audiences young and old in The Spirit of Gonzales, a work of historical fiction and one of five books by local author Betsy Wagner.

FLATONIA–Downtown Flatonia was buzzing with activity Nov. 18 as residents and visitors alike helped celebrate Flatonia’s 150-year birthday. The weather was slightly overcast, but no rain to dampen the spirit of the event.

EAGLE LAKE – Wharton County Junior College’s Adult Education & Literacy Program is resuming free High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) class - es in Eagle Lake. Classes will resume at the Eula and David Wintermann Memorial Library in Eagle Lake beginning on Jan. 23, 2024. Classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Interested students must attend an orientation and complete registration and testing prior to the first day of class.

SEALY – Another year is in the books for the tiny little chefs at Sealy Elementar. The students officially concluded the garden ing experience in October.

The Navidad Valley Cattle-Women (NVCW) were blessed to receive a donation of Cody Johnson concert tickets last spring from a very generous donor. The proceeds received by auctioning off the tickets have been designated to assist with piloting a collegiate scholarship program. Since founded in 2004, Navidad Valley CattleWomen have awarded over $90,000 in scholarships. Until now, these scholarships were given to graduating high school seniors. For the first time, a scholarship will be awarded to a student in college.

The St. Nicholas Ministry has touched the lives of thousands of persons through- out its 36 years of service to the less fortunate and needy persons of the various communities in the Colorado, Fayette and Lavaca counties. In the Advent-Christmas season, we hear about and sing of joy, peace, love and hope. “I think of the St. Nicholas Ministry as helping to bring that to these families in a very real way,” says Pastor Herb Beyer of the Sri-County Cooperative Ministries, ELCA.
