COLUMBUS – Colorado County Judge Ty Prause read a resolution on Oct 10 during the regular commissioner's court open meeting to honor Colorado County Chief Deputy Troy Neisner, who faithfully and diligently served the citizens of Colorado County with the Colorado County Sheriff's Office with 31 years of service from Aug. 13, 1992 until Sept. 30, 2023.

COLEMAN Chris Coleman and Dashae Collins of Columbus announce the birth of their son, Jeremiah Coleman, born Oct. 4 at 11:09 a.m. at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus. Jeremiah weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 19 inches in length. He was welcomed home by his brother, Cason Coleman, 12; and his sister, Cole Coleman, 8. Grandparents are David and Odessa Collins of Columbus, and Ray and Deborah Coleman of Weimar.

Back in 2003, Bellville’s Chamber of Commerce invited Cowboy to set up his historic blacksmithing demonstration in front of the old Blacksmith Shop for the Heritage Gathering - some may remember the longhorn drive on Main Street.

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Lions Club will host its annual White Cane Day Saturday, Oct. 14. Lion Steve McCullough is the chairman of this year’s event, which is a one-day event. Globally, October is Vision Awareness Month. White Cane Days are days set aside in October when Lions Club members nationwide go out into their communities to increase awareness of the white cane safety laws and raise money for the blind and visually impaired.

BASTROP – Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative's Board of Directors unanimously voted to award $1,000 grants to all 63 fire departments that protect and serve communities in the cooperative's 14-county service area. Vehicle thefts continue in FC

Hit by a number of vehicle thefts for as many months, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office reported that there were stolen vehicles in the La Grange area Monday in the early hours of Oct. 2. A firearm was also stolen from a vehicle. The rash of vehicle thefts continues as the sheriff's office and local police departments grapple with these hit-and-run thefts.
