Second Chance donates to Bugle Boy

GOLIAD – An unforgettable Holiday getaway is being hosted by the Casino Art Association Board and La Grange Main Street Sunday, Dec. 3 to the Berclair Mansion. The tour will leave La Grange at 8 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. The Mansion, which is outside of Goliad, will be decked out for the holidays and the trip will include a gourmet luncheon along with tours of the festive Mansion. Twenty-five plus vendors will also be on the grounds for holiday shopping at their Christmas Market You will step back in time at the Berclair Mansion and view pristinely preserved antiques that were collected by ranching heiress, Etta Wilkinson Terrell. This structure was built in 1936 by Terrell for herself and her four sisters. The entire structure is fireproof with 60 tons of cement and steel used and at the time it was believed to be the largest steel-strand home in the United States.

Canadian car buyers face an equally expensive reality in their country, where the average MSRP for a new car is more than $45,000.

Automotive problems are often best left to professionals. Though seasoned car enthusiasts may be capable of diagnosing and fix ing car troubles without the assistance of a trusted mechanic, most drivers are better off letting the pros address issues under the hood.

Austin County Fair Youth Auction Sale brings in over $1.9 million breaking five records

SCHULENBURG – Weimar football fought hard to beat Schulenburg High School Oct.

The Bellville High School volleyball team recently went on an eight game winning streak with wins against teams such as Sealy, Wharton, and East Bernard.

BELLVILLE – Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Austin County Livestock Judging Contest on Oct. 14 in Bellville.

HAMBER OF C OMMERCE October is a beautiful month in Texas and the evening of Saturday, October 14th did not disappoint as I attended my first Brunson Night Dinner in downtown Columbus– what fun for a good cause!

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Cardinal varsity football team cruised to another victory vs Yoakum High School Oct. 20 as they shut them out by a final score of 35-0.

SEALY – Tigers football showed up and showed out Oct. 20 at T.J. Mills Stadium in Sealy by creaming Wharton High School with a final score of 66-7.

FLATONIA – The Fla - tonia High School volleyball team defeated Ganado High School at Bulldogs Gym in Flatonia Oct. 17 by a final score of 25-10, 25-16, 25-16.

Lady Horns takes on Lady Cats for 2A showdown

COLUMBUS – Downtown Columbus was abuzz with excitement Oct. 14 as the kickoff to an evening at the old Brunson Saloon began. Event-goers lined up and enjoyed appetizers and then a dinner. There was a silent and live auction with music by DJ Jamie Cruz. A highlight was the live painting done by artist Stephen Henry, which was auctioned off towards the end of the evening. Proceeds from the event benefits the Live Oak Art Center’s educational outreach and programming, children’s art classes, facilities management and scholarship programs.

WEIMAR – J. Mark Jameson takes over the reigns of the Weimar Police Department with a deep background in law enforcement.

TCHCC receives donation from Second Chance

The local chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) donated Texas history items Oct. 18 to the St. Michael’s Catholic Church School in Weimar.
