The new senior group in Colorado County has undergone a name change. Formerly known as Colorado County Senior Connections, the group is now named Seniors Together.
ROUND TOP – Once again, the area‘s most German event will be showcased at the Round Top Schuetzen Verein, aka Round Top Rifle Assn. This is the annual OktoBierFest, which has been growing by leaps and bounds.
EEA (Extension Education Association) of Austin County, a direct part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, recently cut checks to share funds, raised through their annual barbeque fundraiser, with area non-profit organizations in the county.
The county-wide feral hog contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette County.

SHAWS BEND – This past weekend, smoke filled the air and dust kicked high in the sky as the 7th Annual Texas Outdoor Writ - ers Fall Stampede began.
The Bellville High School football team kept their dominance going with a 69-0 blowout win against Sealy High School last Friday.
The Schulenburg High School footballl team beat Flatonia High School Oct. 13 in a Fayette Coun- ty showdown by a final score of 43-28. Shorthorns quarterback Aaron Janecek had a huge night, reaching the end zone a handful of times and leading his team to its fourth win of the season and third win in district.

WALLIS – Cougars football had a rough night and was shut out by Tidehaven High School Oct. 13 at Cougars Field with a final score of 34-0. After a scoreless first quarter, Tidehaven put on the points and scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, then continued moving the ball and kept their defense intact while not allowing a point.
ROUND TOP – The Round Top-Carmine High School volleyball team shut out Fayettevlle High School in straight sets Oct. 10 at Lions Gym by a final score of 25-9, 25-12, 25-12. The Cubettes were dominant on offense and took advantage of their towering athleticism. “It’s just always a fun and tough place to play,” said Round Top-Carmine head volleyball coach Catie Weishuhn.
BELLVILLE – The fair and rodeo is officially over and the numbers of people that came to have a great time were impressive. Vehicles jockeyed for parking spac - es and people queued up for a chance to ride a top-grade fair ride, feast on carnival food or just see and be seen.
