WEIMAR – Kist By Grace, a Christian Praise and Worship band based in Orchard, will be performing an Advent-Christmas Concert Saturday, Dec. 9, beginning at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church at 615 South Eagle in Weimar.

BELLVILLE – The Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) executed search warrants and an arrest warrant Nov. 29 at a property located in the 4000 block of Coshatte Road in Bellville. These warrants were the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation led by the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA).

ALLEYTON – A ground blessing will take place Saturday, Dec. 9 at 9 a.m. at 352 Canal St. in Alleyton.

The Flatonia High School girls basketball team has been dominating with a bunch of victories and a win streak of three as they’ve recently defeated Prairie Lea, Brazos Christian, and Fayetteville consecutively.

WEIMAR – Fayetteville boy’s basketball traveled to Weimar High School Nov. 28 to take on the Wildcats at Wildcats Gym in Weimar and went home with a win by a final score of 70-46. This was a close game all the way until the fourth quarter when the Lions went on a scoring tear due to their feisty defense and fast break offense to secure a big win.

CONROE - The Bellville High School football team is strolling to the state semifinals with a huge win against Jasper High School Dec. 1 at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Conroe with a final score of 31-7. Jasper made things close in the first half until Bellville settled in and played their normal game of running the football and forcing turnovers to win the contest handedly.

WHARTON – The La Grange High School boy’s basketball team was defeated by Wharton High School Nov. 27 at Tigers Gym by a final score of 66-58. La Grange hung tough with Wharton throughout this match, but Wharton's athleticism and ability to get to the basket was a little too much for the Leopards. “I felt like we needed to be able to play the way we played in that second half,” said La Grange head boy’s basketball coach Trent Collier.

SCHULENBURG – It seems like it was only yesterday that Schulenburg was born. How the years fly by and the town has crept past its infancy and its teen years. Many people enjoyed its resources for livelihood and fun. Who can forget the Upstairs at the Downstairs, Wolter’s Park and the train whistle from the train tracks that started it all.

In many parts of the U.S., the Christmas season kicks off the day after Thanksgiving.

SEALY - The Lions Sealy Dance Club is having a dance on Sat - urday, Dec.2 from 7:30 to 11 p.m. at the Sealy American Legion Hall at 1630 Meyer St. in Sealy. Music will be provided by Heartland Texas. Guests are always welcome.

We had dinner with friends last night.

Several years ago, I was invited to go deer hunting with my brother-in-law Jake on their ranch near Rocksprings, Texas.

We just finished up the annual and traditional time of Thanksgiving with family, friends, helping, giving, listening, and encouraging. I hope we all found moments of joy and spent some parts of the day giving thanks, not just in our hearts, but to those we shared time with.
