Brahmanettes volleyball has won 25+ games for the sea son and recently grasped six games in a row. Bellville has three seniors on their team and is loaded with talent such as junior outside hitter Sydney McKay. It also helps when you have one of the best volleyball coaches in the state of Texas, head coach Susan Brewer.

SCHULENBURG – Schulenburg football won their third game of the season Sept. 29 at Shorthorns Field by defeating Hearne High School with a final score of 10-0. The Shorthorns defense was stellar and they mustered just enough offense to seal a win on homecoming night. “We’re not turned around yet,” said Schulenburg head football coach Luke Hobbs.

RESS COLUMBUS – Local girls, the Solace sisters, must come to terms with their pasts with each other and themselves as they careen headlong into a series of murders in the small town of New Liberty. Alexa Solace, played by award-winning actress, producer, and writer, Marissa Falsone, is the left-behind younger sister who is a wild child and carries a grudge for being left behind by her older sister, Austin Police Detective Simone Solace, played by Kelly Dealyn. Dealyn brought home a Best Supporting Actress award at an indepen- dent Toronto film festival. Finding So - lace is an independent film set in a small town called New Liberty.

COLUMBUS – The quarterly chamber mixer on Sept. 21 was hosted by the Live Oak Art Center in Columbus. A buffet fit for a king or queen was spread out for all to enjoy as the smile on Carrie McRee, of Edward Jones can attest. Refreshments were served from the full bar in the back and friends, and friendsto- be, introduced themselves and discussed the art on the walls and whatever else came to mind. Columbus Chamber Executive Director Becky Nutt struck up conversation with everyone who came through the door, at the well attended event.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on Sept. 16, Deputy James Ulbig was dispatched to a residence on Old Plum Highway regarding USPS locating narcotics in a mailbox. Upon Deputy Ulbig’s arrival, the narcotics had been removed.
