Cold case murder victim identified after 47 years
The Colorado County Sheriff's Office received a call about human remains found near Sandy Creek on Shell Plant Road on July 17, 1976, in Sheridan. This case was initially investigated by Sher - iff "Doc" Mueller, Chief Deputy Jim Broussard, Investigator Bill Esterling, and Deputy James Brooks. Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Judge Richard Schmidt, arrived and requested an autopsy at the Harris County Medi - cal Examiners' Office. Bellville's Fishbeck, Linseisen appear on TSWA 4A All-State Baseball Team
Tyler Fishbeck and Blake Linseisen of Bellville baseball have graced their names on the Blue Bell/TSWA Class 4A All-State Baseball Team. Both of these players were seniors and were a crucial part in helping the Brahmas post another stellar record of 21-10-1 last season.

Round Top-Carmine’s Weishuhn goes from multi-sport athlete to multi-sport coach
Round Top-Carmine coach Catie Weishuhn calls the shots in track, basketball, and volleyball as head coach and has had plenty of success. Weishuhn also played multiple sports at Giddings High School and ultimately pursued softball, pursuing it so much that she ended up playing college ball at Blinn College, then transferred to St. Edwards University in Austin and became a volunteer assistant after her playing career. Weishuhn played two years at each school.

Vets fall to the Jackrabbits
LA GRANGE – The Weimar Vets travel to the La Grange Fairgrounds Ballpark for the final regular season game against the Serbin Jackrabbits, who dominated the game with a final score of 11- 1. Brady Henke led the offense with two singles. Cody Barrett had a single and the lone RBI. Brady Bippert collected a single. Clay Barton continued to cover the outfield with another diving catch defensively. Trey Daniels gunned down a runner attempting to steal second.

Reese adds to already impressive resume; lands on Maxwell Award Watch List
Bellville native and all-time leading rusher Richard Reese is swiftly becoming one of the nation’s most coveted running backs in college football. Reese was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List July 31 prior to his second season at Baylor University, which starts in about a month. The Maxwell Award is given out to the best player in college football for that season.
