Schulenburg softball beats down Moulton, then gets in-county win vs Flatonia

The Lady Horns softball team has earned an overall record above the .500 mark under head coach Gilbert Price at 9-5 with a handful of early wins and recently defeating Moulton and Flatonia, which are both teams in the same district. Schulenburg beat Moulton 20-4 and beat Flatonia 11-3.

Fayetteville baseball crushes Somerville in two-game series

The Fayetteville High School baseball team won by a wide margin March 14 and 15 as they defeated Somerville in both matches by scores of 13-0 and 25-4. Lions junior Reid Gross drove in four RBI's during the first game while freshman Jack Schley added two and junior Keagan Supak knocked in one.

More tri-county powerlifters to compete at state

It has been revealed that there are even more powerlifters from the tri-county area who will compete in the state powerlifting meet. Rice has three lifters who quali- fied in Vanessa Marquez, Raegan Nelson, and Bradi Freeman. Maruqez is in the 114 weight class with a squat of 295, bench press of 120, and 260 deadlift for a 675 total. Nelson is in the 132 weight class with a squat of 300, bench press of 140, and 300 deadlift for a 740 total. Freeman is in the 148 weight class with a 325 squat, 180 bench press, and 295 deadlift for a total of 800.

KULM: Beaming radio waves for 50 years

COLUMBUS – What started as a three-kilowatt, Class A radio facility in 1972 now puts out 6,000 watts of power at its location off Highway 71 North in Columbus. Owner John L. Labay received permission from the Federal Communications Commission for a construction permit to build a new facility to house the radio equipment and offices in August of 1973. In March of that year, construction began for a brick building.
