COLUMBUS –The Columbus Chamber of Commerce has chosen Alejandra Diaz, CHS Class of 2026, as the new Junior Ambassador for 2024-2026. She is joining 2023-2025 Junior Ambassador Brooklyn Eden.

WEIMAR – A free program on the benefits of and the reasons for owning real estate will be held at the Weimar Public Library at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 17.

COLUMBUS – A dedicated staff member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Shelley Janik, has accepted the position of office manager. Shelley works tirelessly every day for the chamber’s members. She is the cheerful voice you hear when you call and the cheerful face you see when you come to the office. She is always upbeat and seeks to meet the needs of chamber members, the community at large, the visitors and tourists.

Calvin Mersiovsky will continue in his La Grange ISD Place 6 school board position. Dr. Karen Roberts went unopposed for the LGISD Place 7 position on the school board.

The Columbus ISD bond proposals, Prop A and B, passed with Prop A having 807 for and 465 against and Prop B having 762 for and 514 against. Prop A is for a bond to help rebuild the fifth grade wing and many other issues with that side of the building. Prop B is for a CTE building for skilled trades training.

SCHULENBURG – Schulenburg Police officers conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 on May 4 at 8:16 p.m.
