WEIMAR – Lady Cardinals softball breezed by Luling High School April 26 at Lady Wildcats Field in Weimar by a final score of 15-0. Columbus poured on the hitting from the very beginning and held their pitching intact while cleaning things up on defense as well.

ROUND TOP – The Round Top-Carmine High School baseball team won a tight one April 23 at Cubs Field vs Snook High School by a final score of 2-1.

COLUMBUS – The Columbus High School baseball team defeated Rice High School by mercy rule in five innings with a final score of 11-0. The Cardi nals hit the ball well throughout the entire game and also held their own on the defensive end not allowing a run.

Columbus senior point guard Karlee Mathis has found herself among the TGCA Basketball Legacy All-Star Team for the 2023-2024 season.

Fayetteville baseball gets some good reps in at practice

Cole Fenhaus from Fayetteville High School made a runner up finish in the 3200 event for the most recent regional track meet held in Jourdanton. Fenhaus fin - ished with a time of 10:30.89 and is likely to make the state tournament at University of Texas. He is known for making it to state and is usually near the top in all of his races.

Faith Academy had their re- gional track meet April 20 at Li ons Stadium in Lockhart.

A select number of golfers from the area have made it to the UIL Golf State Tournament, which will be held at a select number of courses for each division. On Monday and Tuesday, April 29 and 30, the boys 4A will play at Legends Golf Course, 3A Grey Rock Golf Course, 2A Li ons Municipal Golf Course and 1A Plum Creek Golf Course.

The Bellville High School softball team currently has a record just below .500 and also has the same kind of record in district play as well. The Brahmanettes have talent on both sides of the ball and are led by head coach Courtney Phillips. Key players for Bellville are Ella Burnett, Kacie Dudensing, Emma Freiermuht, etc.

The Sealy High School softball team was defeated by Needville High School April 12 at Lady Tigers Field by a final score of 4-0.

Columbus track runner Ty’Vonne Whitehead showed his state tournament prowess yet again as he finished first in the 100 meter dash event during the area meet held a Rice High School. Whitehead crossed the finish line with a time of 11.15 and beat the second place runner by .28 seconds.

The Brazos High School soft - ball team has struggled as of late, but are hanging in with a record just below the even .500 mark and have shown they can play with the best after a streak of a bunch of wins not too long ago. Brahmanettes softball has good talent across the board, they just need to figure out how to get over the hump of making the playoffs as they sit just below .500 with flashes of playoff potential. Bellville has great programs in all sports and softball is a sport where they are known for having a lot of success.

The Sealy High School softball team has continued their dominance as they have a record well above .500 in both the overall and district categories. Head coach Brittney Whitehead has obviously been pulling some strings with this team from the beginning of the year when their success started.

A good handful of golfers in class 1A put their talents on display in the district tournament so well that they were able to qualify for the regional tournament, which will be held April 16 and 17 at Shadow Glen Golf Course in Manor.

The La Grange High School baseball team is working on grinding out a winning record as they sit just below the .500 mark and have an even record right on the dot in district play. Head coach Robert Barber has athletes who know how to play the game, it’s just a matter of putting all the pieces together for an entire game in order to produce wins, which they’ve proven they can do throughout the season.
