The Sealy High School softball team has continued their dominance as they have a record well above .500 in both the overall and district categories. Head coach Brittney Whitehead has obviously been pulling some strings with this team from the beginning of the year when their success started.

FAYETTEVILLE – The Fayetteville High School baseball team was held scoreless against Mumford High School April 2 at SPJST Park in Fayetteville by a final score of 8-0. Costly errors and wild throws from Fayetteville multiplied with big hits from Mumford in order for the Mustangs to pull through with the win.

WEIMAR – Weimar Wildcats baseball took a loss to Ganado High School April 5 at Veteran’s Park in Weimar by a final score of 19-4. The Indians poured it on the entire game with tons of hitting and Weimar wasn’t able to overcome the big deficit. "The first round, we came back and beat them in nine innings,” said Weimar head baseball coach Colton Maiorka. “It’s always a hard fought game when we play Ganado. This time around, they were out for blood. They came out and put it on us pretty good tonight, so we got to go back and win the next three hard games and hopefully get in the playoffs. That’s what our goal is for right now.”

The La Grange High School baseball team is working on grinding out a winning record as they sit just below the .500 mark and have an even record right on the dot in district play. Head coach Robert Barber has athletes who know how to play the game, it’s just a matter of putting all the pieces together for an entire game in order to produce wins, which they’ve proven they can do throughout the season.

Columbus softball is known for having a lot of success and is right back on track with five wins in a row against Tidehaven, Pala cios, Yoakum, Edna, and Rice. Columbus is led by second-year head coach Alfred Rosa, who is a

La Grange senior sprinter Austen Diggs has had quite the career while running for La Grange High School and added to his impressive resume with a first place finish in the 400 me- ter dash event at the Rice Swamp Relays meet last week. Diggs is committed to Baylor University for track and is one of the best runners not only in the state of Texas, but the entire nation.

Bellville track runners De - niah and Danika Runnels both finished first in their respective events at the Archie Seals Relays meet last week, which was held at their home field in Bellville at Brahmas Stadium. Deniah finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.69 and Danika placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.57.

SEALY – The Sealy High School baseball team found home plate when it mattered most to put runs on the board and earn a crunch time victory against Wharton High School March 26 at Tigers Field by a final score of 10-0. The pitching was on point and runs were driv en in when needed to wrap up a win by mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Bellville High School baseball team has been showing what they're made of as they've won their last couple of games as of late to get back on track to the .500 mark. After a slow start to the season, the Brahmas seem to be showing flashes of their true playoff poten - tial with satisfying wins against Sealy and Navasota. Wildcats baseball has been grinding out wins as they are a team that is familiar with winning after going far in the postseason pretty regularly. Weimar has really good pitching and power at the plate. Their size also helps on both sides of the ball with hitting the long ball and making plays at first base, as well as positions like right and left field.

A good number of boys powerlifters from the tri-county area are heading to Abilene Saturday, March 23 for the Texas High School Powerlifting State Championships tournament. The event will be held at the Taylor County Expo Center at 1700 Highway 36 in Abilene.
