ROUND TOP – Once again, the area‘s most German event will be showcased at the Round Top Schuetzen Verein, aka Round Top Rifle Assn. This is the annual OktoBierFest, which has been growing by leaps and bounds.

EEA (Extension Education Association) of Austin County, a direct part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, recently cut checks to share funds, raised through their annual barbeque fundraiser, with area non-profit organizations in the county.

The county-wide feral hog contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette County.

WALLIS – The Guardian Angel Fall Harvest Festival in Wallis is always a treat for anyone who enjoys getting out in the sunshine and enjoying great food, fun and fellowship.

SHAWS BEND – This past weekend, smoke filled the air and dust kicked high in the sky as the 7th Annual Texas Outdoor Writ - ers Fall Stampede began.

COLUMBUS – The quarterly chamber mixer on Sept. 21 was hosted by the Live Oak Art Center in Columbus. A buffet fit for a king or queen was spread out for all to enjoy as the smile on Carrie McRee, of Edward Jones can attest. Refreshments were served from the full bar in the back and friends, and friendsto- be, introduced themselves and discussed the art on the walls and whatever else came to mind. Columbus Chamber Executive Director Becky Nutt struck up conversation with everyone who came through the door, at the well attended event.

Magnolia Society joins Columbus chamber

COLUMBUS – Columbus Historical Preservation Trust, Inc. (CHPT) will host a second town hall meeting on Monday, Oct. 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Buddy Rau Room of the Stafford Opera House in Columbus to provide updates on the “Save Our Opera House” capital campaign.

COLUMBUS – What started as a not-so-simple window painting at The First State Bank in Columbus to show their Cardinal Spirit quickly became a friendly competition amongst businesses in town. Columbus State Bank accepted the challenge, followed by A Creative Touch, A Brighter Day Child Care, The Dewberry Café, Keyser Market, Leyco Real Estate, Columbus Outfitters, Harrell Dentistry, John John’s 2 Go, The Silver Barn, Trinity Logistics and Dairy Cone.

COLUMBUS – Colorado County Commissioner’s Court met on Sept. 25 for a regular open meeting.
