The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners, in conjunction with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension team, are pleased to announce our 6th year of holding Kids’ Kamp in Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington Counties. This camp is designed to be educational but fun with the goal of igniting a passion in the youth of our area for gardening through unique experiences, impressing on them the importance and enjoyment of horticulture.

HALLETTSVILLE – The District 11 Texas Extension Education Association Spring Conference was held on April 11, in Hallettsville with Knellen Quinteros of Austin County as District 11 Director presiding. Also attending was Pat Allee (District 11 Secretary), Rita Jacobs (Delegate), Joan Buenger (Delegate), Claudia Cieslewicz, Gloria Havemann Carolyn Balke, Shirley Beum, Barney Zimmerman, Jessie Kokemor and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Distinguished Agent Michelle Wright.

During the Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club meeting on April 13, Lion Dan Canaris, right, presented Lion Sam Kana, who serves as president of the First National Bank of Eagle Lake as its guest speaker. Kana provided the Lions with an interesting update on current banking and financial policies and principles influencing today’s economy.

INDUSTRY – During the month of March, the EEA (Extension Education Association) of Austin County, which is a direct part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, hosted its annual spring cultural arts workshop in Industry, Texas.

TEMPLE – The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Texas is recognizing Earth Team volunteer efforts throughout the nation during April 16-22, for National Volunteer Week. This year’s theme, “Shining the Light,” shows our gratitude to the Earth Team volunteers for their superb service to conservation.

Court St. Roch of Mentz Catholic Daughters (CDA) recently presented a check for $2,000 to Columbus Food Pantry. COLUMBUS – The Colorado County Wildlife Management Association (CCWMA) held its annual banquet and meeting March 18 at the Columbus Hall in Columbus. The program for this year centered on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) with Allan Cain, leader for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Whitetail Deer Program for the state.
