EAGLE LAKE – The Eula and David Wintermann Library in Eagle Lake had another very successful Summer Reading Program. The theme for the program was “All Together Now”. Programs were held each Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. from June 7 to July 19. There were 56 students enrolled. Books and certificates were given to 29 of those students who achieved the goals set for the program. Funding for the summer program was provided by a Dollar General Grant.

COLUMBUS – Columbus Community Hospital held its annual dinner and auction fundraiser on Aug. 12 at the Southern Oaks Event Center in Columbus.

BELLVILLE – The ‘Bellville Celebrating 175 Years’ event committee members from the Bellville Historical Society were presented a $500 donation for advertising and promotion of the upcoming Nov. 4 community- wide celebration.

As the teachers made their way back to school in the first weeks of August, Industry State Bank began spreading some back-toschool cheer! ISB visited the teachers and staff at Columbus Elementary, Columbus Junior High, Columbus High School, Columbus Alternative School, and St. Anthony’s Catholic School and stocked their breakroom with snacks, sodas, water, and teacher supplies.

EAGLE LAKE – Friends of the Eagle Lake Wintermann Library Auction Chairman Christine Owen announced The Friends of the Library 44th An - nual Auction and Dinner is in the planning stages. The doors open at the Eagle Lake Community Center Saturday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association will be hosting its Annual Fruit & Citrus Tree Sale on Friday, Aug. 25. This will not be a pre-order online sale like in previous years. A variety list can be found on the Bluebonnet Master Gardener website; however, varieties may vary on the day of the sale, as this will depend on the supplier’s availability.

LA GRANGE – The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, Aug. 21 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $8.

EAGLE LAKE – Mary Ann Kaluza, an Eagle Lake Wintermann Library Board Member, is delighted to present one of the first items to be included in this year’s Live Auction, one of the most exciting parts of the Eagle Lake Friends of the Library Dinner and Auction scheduled at the Community Center on Saturday, Sept. 23.

CHAMPS (Charitable Heroes Achieving Memorable Performances) is a group of concerned citizens who want to see its little heroes do good in school. Giving school-aged kids that helping hand to begin school on a positive note so they may excel in their education. Barbers from Rustic Barber Shop, Shalow Styles, Letys Salon, Makayla’s and Kelvin Tarver provided their barber skills for the youngsters to sport a new style. The school supplies were provided by the Sealy Eastside Foundation.

WEIMAR – The St. Michael’s Catholic Church Harvest Fest provided a cool respite from the summer heat during its annual Harvest Fest on Sept. 13 in Weimar.
