There is a kid’s cartoon about a little bear. In fact, the name of the cartoon is Little Bear. Anyone with kids will know Little Bear. Well, those who had kids, say, 10 years ago. Now, I don’t think many kids watch Little Bear. That show is almost better than Peppa Pig. Little Bear had built-in lessons that taught kids about life and such.

COLUMBUS – The smell of food was in the air last Sun day as the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual Fish and Oyster Fry at the KC Hall in Columbus. Hundreds of cars lined up for the drive-through service, and just as many parked in the parking lot and lined the streets to get meals.

I want to recognize the vision of the Nes bitt Memorial Library Foundation and Library Boards and the support of the Mayor, City Council, and many City colleagues and Friends of the Library. Jessica Commanda, Eric Braden, Su- san Archuletta and Cody Graves have provided stability to our patrons and done a lot of work through all of our phases!

COLUMBUS – Taking advantage of a school-free day, some members of the Girl Friends group from Columbus Boys and Girls Club, visited Columbus City Hall on Feb. 13. Guided by Mayor Lori An Gobert, they toured the City Administration Building, were suited up by Richard LaCourse and Anna Shultz of the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department, met with Columbus Police Department Captain Wendy Alley and were all smiles after a very informative and exciting afternoon. The Girl Friend’s group were grateful to Mayor Gobert for arranging the visit and to their host for their service to the community.

COLUMBUS – Three local ladies, Christine McBride, Lori Meyer and Sherry Tucker, joined together to bring a new upscale restaurant and wine bar to an old hotel near downtown Columbus. Their purchase of the Hotel Colorado on 920 Milam sets the stage for a food and wine adventure which will be named The Magnolia Society at the Hotel Colorado.
