What’s fresh at the Farmers and Artisan Market?
BELLVILLE – This Saturday, July 1, pack up the cooler and the dog to come out for lots of summer goodness and fun for the kids at the Bellville Farmers and Artisan Market from 9 a.m. to noon. Kiddos will enjoy free jumping fun with Lone Star Bounce House next to the Pavilion at Chesley Park, with a playground, walking path, gazebo and picnic tables. It all takes place under the shade of the Jim Bishop Pavilion and beyond. If you’ve not been before, this extended show is located where Bell meets Palm Street in Bellville.

2023 Colorado County Fair Pageant contest opens soon
Contestants for the 2023 Colorado County Fair pageant can register online via https://coloradocountyfair.org/!!! or by calling one of the directors below. The contestant or parent must attend an informational meeting at the fairgrounds office on Wednesday, July 5 or Thursday, July 6 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. for sign-up, information, and season passes to sell. If unable to attend, contact either Shannan Gerik at (979) 732-0865 or Heidi May at (832) 588-5525 to get the information packet before the deadline. The deadline to enter the pageant is Tuesday, July 18. The fair queen pageants will take place Thursday, Sept. 7, on stage in the Founders Hall at the fairgrounds. The little miss/mister and junior miss pageant begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the junior fair queen pageant then the fair queen pageant.

SEALY – Once, a place where kids would ride their bikes and enjoy a great day of swimming had water thrown on it. Sealy Mayor Carolyn Bilski announced that the Irene LeBlanc Pool would be closed for the time being while other avenues of water fun are explored for the citizens and visitors of Sealy.

LA GRANGE – The Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) proudly hosted its third annual scholarship reception on May 21 at the Historic Casino Hall in La Grange. Celebrations! by Bistro 108 Events and Catering provided a beautiful spread of light bites for the reception where awarded students and their families were able to meet the FCF Board, scholarship donors, and fund representatives who made their scholarships possible.

Bellville band students advance
Bellville Director of Bands Kenneth Peters said his band students advanced to state on a solo and ensemble. The group received a Division I rating on an ensemble or memorized Level 1 solo. Students Andie Eckermann, Emily Chen, Evelin Cornejo, Heyzel Espinoza, Ruth Garcia, Lydia Huebner, Robert Smith, Koda Barnett, Zander Felter, Kaleb Jacobs, Seth Trahan, Leah Kutch and Mia Surovik make the cut. Lea Kutch and Mia Surovik earned a gold medal for a first di vision rating at the state level.
