Festivities begin with a recognition ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The Czech Immigrants to Texas will be hon ored, and the stones on the Immigrant Wall will be recognized.

Props A and B pass for CISD
The Columbus ISD bond proposals, Prop A and B, passed with Prop A having 807 for and 465 against and Prop B having 762 for and 514 against. Prop A is for a bond to help rebuild the fifth grade wing and many other issues with that side of the building. Prop B is for a CTE building for skilled trades training.

Spate of tornadoes far outpaces the average
April was a busy month for tornadoes across the United States with 373 recorded, bringing the total for the year to 549, the Austin American-Statesman reported. That is nearly double the average at this point in the year, the National Weather Service says.

Seniors Together holds successful fundraiser

Proceeds go to help fund the activities and other expenses associated with running senior group centers in Colorado County. Oakridge VFD holds annual fundraiser
OAKRIDGE – It just keeps getting bigger and better as the Oakridge Volunteer Fire Department opens up its doors to its new fire station for the annual fundraiser on May 4 in Oakridge near Weimar. The chicken fried steak dinner were not the only highlight of the day. Instead of pie in the sky, it was pie in the face as the Oakridge VFD chief and president got a taste of whipped cream. The event was filled with laughter, games, and the thrill of winning, making it a day to remember.
