COLUMBUS – Colorado County Commissioner's Court made a proclamation recognizing May 4 as the 22nd Annual National Day of Prayer in Colo rado County during the regular session of the Colorado County Commissioner's Court.

WEIMAR - The Friends of the Weimar Public Library will hold their annual book sale on Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Weimar Library located at 1 Jackson Square in Weimar. This sale is open to the public and everyone is invited to come see what we have to offer. The library will have many books and DVD's for sale for every age group. Paperback books are 25 cents, hardcover books $1, audio books $2 and DVD movies $1. All proceeds benefit The Friends of the Weimar Public Library organization. EAGLE LAKE – The Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club welcomed two key employees of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Yoakum District on April 27. Ryan Simper, right, is the engineer for the Wharton Area of the Yoakum District and is in charge of construction and maintenance within four Counties. Lucean Kuykendall is the Public Information Officer for the entire eleven-county Yoakum District Simpler spoke about the responsibilities of the Yoakum District to plan, design, build, operate and maintain the state transportation system in its 11 counties: Austin, Calhoun, Colorado, DeWitt, Fayette, Gonza- les, Jackson, Lavaca, Matagorda, Victoria, and Wharton.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on April 25, Fayette County Dispatch received a call about a medical emergency. The individual in question is the sole caretaker of an adult autistic family member with no known family or friends anywhere nearby.

LA GRANGE – Annie McHugs' Workshop on her Picture Windows Reverse Applique was a huge success at the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild.

COLUMBUS – Drymalla Construction puts the shingles on the roof of a Colorado County Habitat for Humanity house at 318 Canal St. in Alleyton. Drymalla Construction provided the labor for free. Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Char- maine Katz is looking for more organizations to volunteer to help build these houses. No ex perience in building is necessary.

BELLVILLE – It’s hats off as we celebrate moms and graduates at the Bellville Market Day & Farmers Market in downtown Bellville this Saturday, May 6 with with 140+ vendors total in the charming downtown area.

Each of our three counties are known for sending a whole bunch of runners to state track and this year is no different. The UIL state track tournament will be held at Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium located at the University of Texas. The tournament goes from May 11 to May 13.

RESS FRYDEK – The crowd was immense and rightfully so, with the mouth-wa- tering, flavor-filled food that St. Mary's Grotto Celebration served up on April 30 in Frydek. Since 1949, St. Mary’s has satisfied everybodies barbecue wants and a lot of fun that goes with it.

FAYETTEVILLE – This weekend, Arts for Rural Texas will host the 19th annual ArtWalk Art and Music Festival on Fayetteville’s historic courthouse square. The event opens to the public on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again on Sunday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

RESS COLUMBUS – What do pullin’ tails and wranglin’ steers have to do with each other? The Colorado County Fair 19th Annual Ragin Cajun event partnered the two together for fun and excitement on April 29, at the Colorado County Fairgrounds in Columbus.
