FLATONIA – Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on Jan. 25, at around 2 p.m., the Fayette County Undercover Narcotics Unit attempted to stop a silver Chrysler 300 in the Flatonia area for a traffic in fraction.

Fayetteville High School girl’s basketball secured two big wins in a row last week with a 60-25 win over Buckholts and a 5220 victory over Dime Box. The Lady Lions are led by head coach Marcus Sodek, a great basketball mind. Cambree Denham and Kayme Schley tallied scoring in double figures for the Buckholts game as Denham had 19 to go along with Schley’s 15.
The Columbus High School girl’s basketball team has been surging as they’ve now reached 20 wins on the season under head coach Mike Albers. After reaching the state tournament last year, this team looks to head to the Almadome for the sec- ond year in a row as they are finding their rhythm at the right time.
The Cardinals boy’s soccer team of Columbus High School is off to a nice start as they currently have six wins and four losses before heading into the month of February, also adding an undefeated record of 2-0 in district play. They took down Hallettsville High School by a final score of 2-0 last Thursday, then demolished Palacios High School with a 7-0 tally the following Friday.
BELLVILLE – The Faith Academy Knights basketball team played a home game against the Connection School Jan 19, and came away with a 42 to 26 win.

SEALY – The Bellville High School boy’s basketball team traveled to Sealy High School Jan. 26 and outlasted the Tigers in overtime by a final score of 54-49. After Sealy led for most of the second half, the Brahmas found ways to claw back and sneak by with a win. “Just getting through the chaos and all the crowd noise,” said Bellville head boy’s basketball coach Mason Loiodice on the win. “Getting through all the uncomfortability.

CARMINE – The Round Top-Carmine Cubs fell to Richards High School Jan. 23 at Cubs Gym by a final score of 57-34.
COLUMBUS – During the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership Meeting on Jan. 25 in Columbus, keynote speakers engaged the attendees with the State of the Chamber, The State of the City and the State of the County.
LA GRANGE – The Texas Antique Gas Engine Reunion and Texas Black- smithing Conference fired up its engines and forges on Jan. 27 at the La Grange Fairgrounds in La Grange.
LA GRANGE - After fits and starts since 2022, La Grange settled down and hired Jack Thompson as city manager. Thompson came from Crowley, Texas, as an assistant city manager. Thompson will take over the reins on Feb. 26 and hopefully end a chapter of Guess Who’s City Manager.
