COLUMBUS - The Colum - bus Historical Preservation Trust (CHPT) will hold its 3rd Annual Have Yourself a Tasty Little Holiday online auction from Nov. 8 – 12. Funds raised will support CHPT's "Save Our Opera House" capital campaign and will allow the organization to make much-needed repairs to the 1886 Stafford Opera House. WALDECK - The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has de - cided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Now the Waldeck food truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. Waldeck food truck is on third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. The 2023 dates are: Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.

FLATONIA – It got hot and heavy at Czhilispiel 51 in Flatonia during the weekend of Oct. 27. The barbecue pits were belching smoke and the jalapeño contest eaters were belching fire! There was something for everyone to do between the opening and the closing of the gates.

Judge Ty Prause read a resolution of recognition and appreciation to Susan Chandler of the Nesbitt Memorial Library for her diligence in coding the information to document the establishment of Colorado County. BRENHAM – The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association (BMGA) announces that registration is open for its 2024 Mas- ter Gardener Certification Train ing Class to be held in Brenham. The class is open to participants from Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington counties, and will provide 5-plus hours of gardening education from experts in various fields of horticulture.

COLLEGE STATION – Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Texas A&M Aggiefest Livestock Judging Contest on Oct. 21.

LA GRANGE – Fayette Coun - ty Sheriff Keith Korenek and the deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office have announced the dates for this year's Deputy Santa Program: Nov. 20 – Dec, 20. Toys will be handed out to participants at three different lo- cations on Dec. 21.

COLUMBUS – Colorado County Deputies were dispatched to Mikeska’s BBQ at 4053 US Highway 90 in reference to a burglary alarm on Oct. 23. While en route, Deputies observed a vehicle traveling from the direction of the business on US Highway 90 toward Columbus. Deputy Tyler Pavlicek stopped the vehicle for a defective equipment violation while Deputy Zane Blaha continued to the business.
