Bluff Schuetzenfest hits bullseye
LA GRANGE–Between the 1870s and 1920s, the Bluff Schuetzenverein invited people from all across Texas to participate in marksmanship contests. The bluff overlooking La Grange and the site of Kreische Brewery was also during the Bluff Schetzenfest, the site of holiday celebrations, picnics, games and German folk music.

Firetruck push-in dates back to 1800s
COLUMBUS – In a regular display of tradition, the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department pushed its newest firefighting apparatus into its bay at the CVFD fire station on May 13. This is a practice that firefighters follow with every new truck, sparking curiosity as to why they don’t just back it in, considering it does, hopefully, have an engine.

Schramm benefit brings community together
MENTZ–The Bernardo Volunteer Fire Department, St. Roch’s Catholic Church, and the Bernardo community came together on May 11 on the grounds of St. Roch’s Catholic Church in Mentz to help raise money for Blake Schramm’s family. The Schramm family was involved with BVFD and members of St. Roch.
