WEIMAR – Fayetteville boy’s basketball traveled to Weimar High School Nov. 28 to take on the Wildcats at Wildcats Gym in Weimar and went home with a win by a final score of 70-46. This was a close game all the way until the fourth quarter when the Lions went on a scoring tear due to their feisty defense and fast break offense to secure a big win.

The Flatonia High School girls basketball team has been dominating with a bunch of victories and a win streak of three as they’ve recently defeated Prairie Lea, Brazos Christian, and Fayetteville consecutively.

FLATONIA – Bulldogs girl’s basketball put a beating on Yorktown High School Nov. 21 at Bulldogs Gym by a final score of 62-20. Flatonia’s offense was on fire as they were able to score around the perimeter and down near the paint as well, overpowering Yorktown in all aspects.

LA GRANGE – The La Grange High School boy’s basketball team defeated Schulenburg High School Nov. 20 at Leopards Gym by a final score of 60-39. La Grange surged out to a big lead in the first half and the Shorthorns cut into the lead in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as the Leopards continued to produce on the offensive end.

SPRING – The Bellville High School football team blasted Sils- bee High School by a final score of 61-7 Nov. 24 at Planet Ford Sta dium in Spring. Bellville did their usual running of the football, wearing down Silsbee and scoring heavily while locking them down on defense.

SAN ANTONIO – The Weimar High School Wildcat football team had their season come to an end Nov. 24 at Northside ISD Dub Farris Stadium in San Antonio with a loss to Refugio High School Bobcats by a final score of 42-14.

Columbus volleyball star Ally Tribe recently signed with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) volleyball team after she made her verbal commitment during her junior year. Tribe made the signature happen Nov. 8, about a week before Columbus headed to their third straight state tournament appearance.

GARLAND – Columbus volleyball took Gunter High School down to the wire in an event that went five sets, where Gunter came out on top by a final score of 14-25, 25-23, 27- 25, 22-25, 12-15 Nov. 16 at the Curtis Culwell Center. Columbus went up two sets to one and had control, then Gunter stormed back in the final two sets that ended up to be nail biters.

GARLAND – The Schulenburg High School volleyball team fell to Iola High School in the semifinal round of the UIL State Volleyball Tournament Nov. 15 at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland by a fi nal score of 19-25, 20-25, 25-19, 2225. As this game was pretty evenly matched, Iola found ways to put the ball down and produce a little more offense in order to come out with the win. “I think Iola being as good as they are, they make it hard for you to settle in,” said Schulenburg head volleyball coach Donald Zapalac.

COLUMBUS – Columbus boys basketball took a tough loss Tuesday Nov. 14 at the Marley Giddens Center in Columbus as they were defeated by Columbia High School with a final score of 60-44.

THE WOODLANDS – Faith Academy ran at the Nike Cross South Regional Meet on Nov. 18 in The Woodlands.

MADISONVILLE – Columbus football kept their postseason train rolling as they took down Woodville High School by a final score of 24-7 Nov. 17 at Madisonville High School’s Mustang Stadium. The Cardinals didn’t score as much as they have throughout the regular season, but they scored enough to come out with a solid win and also did it by stepping up to the plate on defense. “There’s no opportunity for a ‘my bad’ or a second chance,” said Columbus head football coach Matt Schobel on the team’s playoff mindset.

KLEIN – The Bellville High School football team is still alive in the playoffs as they recently defeated Madisonville High School Nov. 17 at Klein Memorial Stadium in Klein by a whopping score of 67-0.

SMITHVILLE – The Faith Academy Knights football team travelled to Smithville on Nov.

The Weimar High School football team has completely turned their program around and a lot of the credit should go to second year head coach Wade Griffin.
