LA GRANGE – The Red Door Fund for Mental Health (RDF) starts the second year of its campaign to raise awareness and support for mental health in Fayette and Colorado counties.

The Fayetteville High School girls basketball team has found their rhythm after losing their best player, Brooklyn Jaeger, before the season even started after tearing her ACL in a playoff volleyball match. Fayetteville is now 11-12 on the season with a 7-2 record in district after starting the year with a 1-11 overall record. They proceeded to win 10 of their last 11 games and look like a real threat if they’re to make the postseason.

LA GRANGE - Thirteen-year La Grange High School head football coach and athletic director Matt Kates resigned last week.

WALLIS - The Brazos Cougarettes suffered a beatdown to Hitchcock High School Jan. 17 at Cougars Gym in Wallis by a final score of 93-31. Hitchcock’s athleticism, shot-making, and pressure on defense won them this ball game.

EAGLE LAKE – Endeavors waded into a hostile environment to pitch its migrant facility at a town hall meeting pn Jan. 17, at the Eagle Lake Community Center. Out of the 3,400 citizens of Eagle Lake, approximately 65 people attended.

SEALY – Chandler Marks took over the reins as Sealy Economic Development Executive Director and Main Street Manager on Dec. 5, 2022. Marks,36, was born and raised in Kentucky and eventually found his way to Texas.

Fayetteville crowns royalty

COLORADO COUNTY - Michelle Lowrance took the reigns as the Colorado County Auditor on Jan. 1. Lowrance replaces Raymie Kana who retired after 30 years as the county auditor.

Four students placed at the 4-H Nationals in the Family, Community and Health (FCH) Quiz Bowl. Cooper Mau placed second high point individual and Cash Smith was third high point individual.

The road hummed under the car tires. David Morris, Rusty Klaus, and I were on a road trip. For them it was a site-seeing tour. For me it was a small step for mankind but a major step for Herman Willie. The plan was mine. We were headed to northern Montana. The Texas Aggie spring semester was done and my buddies were taking two weeks to lollygag before spending the rest of the summer at hard labor. My personal agenda required me to leave Aggieland (TAMU) early and take a job with an oil patch lease service.
