Fayetteville boy’s head to Alamodome for state tournament
The Fayetteville High School boy's basketball team has earned their spot to the big dance as they have qualified for the UIL State Basketball Tournament at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The Lions recently beat Wells High School by a final score of 73-59 in order to get there. Schulenburg softball starts season around .500 mark
The Schulenburg High School softball team has started the season at about even .500 as they recently defeated Snook High School 8-3 and Yorktown High School 11-1. The Lady Horns have shown flashes of great po - tential and have proven that they can put their bats on the ball, along with clean things up in the field as well. Schulenburg is led by head coach Gilbert Price, who has a great knowledge not only for the game, but sports in gener - al as he also helps coach football.

La Grange baseball comes up just short to Rockdale in extras
LA GRANGE – The La Grange High School baseball team fell to Rockdale High School in extra innings by a final score of 9-6 Feb. 27 at Leopards Field. Costly errors in the later in nings from La Grange led Rockdale to tying the game in a close one, then Rockdale finished the job with their bats in extras. “It boiled down to late in the game we just didn’t make pitches,” said La Grange head baseball coach Robert Barber.

Weimar Lady Cats makes big innings, beats Cameron Yoe by time expiration
WEIMAR – Lady cats softball had a dominant bout and smashed Cameron Yoe High School by a final score of 10-6 March 1 at Wildcats Field after three innings and the time expiration rule as this game was in tournament play. A huge second and third inning for Weimar put them ahead and it was too late for Cameron Yoe to make any kind of comeback as time expired for the next game to be played in a tournament hosted by Weimar.

Lions boy’s basketball is still alive and very well in the playoffs as they’ve won their last 12 games in a row with the majority of them being by a wide margin. Columbus girl’s basketball punches ticket to second-consecutive state tourney
The Columbus High School girl’s basketball team is heading back to the Alamodome as they’ve earned a bid to the state tournament for the second year in a row. They sealed the deal with a win against Aransas Pass Feb. 24 by a score of 61-44 earning the 3A Region IV championship.

Sealy softball blasts Burton in four innings by mercy rule
SEALY – The Sealy High School softball team picked up a big win Feb. 13 at Lady Tigers Field by defeating Burton High School with a final score of 15-0 by mercy rule in four innings. Sealy put on a clinic defensively and offensively with lights out pitching and fielding, along with hitting the ball hard at the plate and finding the gaps. "We have a very talented group of kids,” said Sealy head softball coach Brittney Whitehead.
