Lady Horns softball has extended their 2023 season by winning two out of three games against Refugio High School in a playoff series May 4 and 5. After a relatively slow start to the year, Schulenburg has caught fire with an overall record of 19-9 and 8-6 in district. In the playoff series against Refugio, Schulenburg won the first game 7-2, lost the second game 6-7, and won the third game 9-1.

FLATONIA – The Columbus High School baseball team matched up against Randolph High School in a playoff game at Bulldogs Field May 6 and defeated Randolph by mercy rule with a final score of 18-3. The Cardinals hitting was a force to be reckoned with and Randolph had trouble putting the bat on the ball due to Columbus’ elite pitching. "We talked about that we were up one to nothing in the series and we wanted to come out early and kind of set the tone for game two,” said Columbus head baseball coach Heath Allen.

CALDWELL - The Flatonia High School baseball team was defeated by Caldwell High School May 1 at Hornets Field by a final score of 10-3 in a warm-up post - season match. Lady Horns claim the Bi-District round of the softball playoff

COLUMBUS – The Columbus High School softball team competed in a playoff match against Marion High School April 28 at Lady Cardinals Field and was victorious by a final score of 10-0. Columbus was solid on both sides of the ball with stellar pitching and finding open holes at the plate.

Tri-county volleyball players were recognized for their performance on the hardwood and recently made the 2022-2023 Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) Volleyball All-State Team. Making the list in Class 1A is Kynley Hurst (Fayetteville), Brooklyn Jaeger (Fayetteville), Mallory Krause (Round Top-Carmine), and Maggie Salinas (Round Top-Carmine).

Columbus head girls basketball coach Mike Albers was recently named the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) coach of the year for the 2022-2023 season. It was well deserved as Albers earned his 900th career win along with a state tournament appearance in the same season.

MANSFIELD – Faith Academy traveled to Mansfield to participate in the TAIAO Baseball State Cham- pionship Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20. The Knights played two games on Wednesday and two games on Thursday. The games on Wednesday seeded them for the tournament on Thursday.
