Mike Albers named THSCA Region 5-3A Coach of the Year

Columbus head girls basketball coach Mike Albers was recently named the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) coach of the year for the 2022-2023 season. It was well deserved as Albers earned his 900th career win along with a state tournament appearance in the same season.

MANSFIELD – Faith Academy traveled to Mansfield to participate in the TAIAO Baseball State Cham- pionship Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20. The Knights played two games on Wednesday and two games on Thursday. The games on Wednesday seeded them for the tournament on Thursday. Tri-county athletes make THSCA Super Elite Team

The tri-county area had a good portion of athletes who made the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite Team. This team is made up of athletes picked by members of the THSCA and the player has to meet the THSCA award criteria in order to be nominated. It recognizes student- athletes across Texas for their superior achievement in their sport.

The Lady Wildcats softball team made a state tournament appearance last year and seem to be on track to make another appearance in 2023. It’s still early in the season, but Weimar currently has an overall record of 23-5-1 with a 7-1 record in district. They’ve also won their last 10 games in a row with three of them being wins by a final score of 17-0.
